We were outplayed and lucky to get a draw, a lot of our players looked knackered.

Someone said earlier that Antonio needed a breather. Why?? So that he can go back to Jamaica, knock a couple in for them and then fly back on his private jet to pick up his wedge and recuperate whilst waiting to fly back and knock another couple in for them?

Listen, I'm not trying to be too negative here. If you had offered me 4th place in the PL, top of our Europa group (with a match to play) and in the QF with a winnable game against the Y*ds, I'd have bitten your fucking arm off.

And we were so close to winning yesterday despite our performance. If it hadn't been for that useless splodge of lard Masuaku's terrible defending, things would have been far more upbeat on here. The only bloody job Arthur had to do was stopping those crosses going in. Jeeeez.

Hopefully our dip in form will put a stop to all this cringey “massive” bollocks.

Is it possible that we're not quite as massive as we thought we were?

Thing is SKY Sports media have transformed our game into an all-round autopsy of a match. Add in it's mainly fronted by ex Scousers or Mancs then it's a whiny autopsy.....VAR just helps the autopsy continue at a deeper level for them whilst protecting the bluechip brand clubs.

Football is fucked unless you lazily follow one of the top 4 brands who are entitled to everything they get, plus anything half decent the other clubs can discover for them......

Aye. Fair enough. Just thought you'd gone a bit Cassandra like today, what with that statement and you going on earlier about not having bought another striker.

I'm not the one banging on and on about it today, Nagel.

It's everyone else, a few years too late.

Word of advice, banging on and on about the same shit day after day don't make you Nostradamus. It makes you a boring cunt like Nicey or Come on You Irons.

Who was the poster on here a few years ago who banged on and on about VAR being a load of old shit if it was ever introduced? Said things like everything would be dissected to the nth degree until they found a decision they liked, and it would completely suck the life out of the game

Oh yeah, it was me.

Antonio was offside but did he touch the ball.?
Replays seemed inconclusive. So given the length of time it took it wasn't a clear and obvious error.
So the goal should have stood.

Perhaps he shouldn't have celebrated the goal though as if it was his.🤔🤔

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread
The ball touched Antonio's laces, not even sure he made any attempt to play the ball as it happened so quick and was close to him & the goal?

I have no doubt that had it been one of the "big" clubs they wouldn't have gone searching for reasons to disallow it and spent 5 minutes doing so.

We never catch a break with VAR, and seem to have been on the wrong end of a disproportionate amount of these lengthy hair splitting decisions.

Of course 'clear an obvious' comes into it for off sides. If a goal was given by the on field officials and it takes VAR 3 mins to determine if a player was a gnats dick offside then it was not a clear and obvious error by the on field officials to allow the goal and their decision should stand

I haven't seen it back so wasn't sure if the defender played the ball or if it just hit him. If it just deflected off him then it's offside (if I understand the rules properly).

VAR handbook for refs It has to be a clear and obvious error, unless we can find something to fuck West Ham over

Thankfully was an earlier kick off time.

With the long injury delays and long var decisions it did think like game would never end.

11 minutes injury in total in the game

''It looked to me as though the Brighton defender played the ball onto Antonia but I have no idea if that makes a difference nowadays''

The rule is still the same, ie you are only offside it the opposing player does not intentionally play the ball, so in fairness it probably was off, but annoying all the same. Despite all the unhappiness if that is allowed or Fornals shot goes in we are 2 up and would win.

I think if they cant make a clear decision on VAR after 30 seconds the decision stands. It was fucking tedious last nigh and sucks the life out of the ground very quickly.

madeeasy 2:47 Thu Dec 2
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread
The problem with Var is that at one point they were attacking and were blatantly offside, but they let the play continue and then they got a corner.

Now if they had scored from that passage of play it would have been called off, he was about a yard offside. But if they had got the goal from the corner then it would have been allowed.

So this clear and obvious bit is bullshit as the linesman knew he was offside but isnt allowed to lift his flag as they need to let the game flow until it can be checked at the right time.

That to me is bollocks and we should have got a free kick when they got a corner.

I do agree with that to an extent. They seemed to be cycling through reasons to not give the goal. The Brighton lot i am sure were moaning about a foul and that's all.

But then it seemed a can of worms was opened. BUT if Antonio was offside (looked like it from the quick flash on the screen in the ground) then even if the process was shit, they did come to the correct conclusion unfortunately for us.
